Vehicle Theft

Configure NPC key theft, lockpicking and hotwiring

Open /vehiclekeysadmin > Settings to configure theft. Save your changes in the menu; gameplay settings are stored in the database.

NPC keys

In NPC keys, Steal NPC keys enables gunpoint robbery and key searches. Search for keys controls searches of dead NPC drivers and their vehicles. Player-owned and job vehicles are excluded.

Set the reaction chances, chance of keys on a body, cooldowns and required job players. Higher reaction values make that response more likely; 0 disables it. Stolen keys don't change legal ownership.

Lockpicking

In Lockpicking, choose whether to allow door lockpicking and Require a lockpick. The default item is lockpickingkit. Disabling the item requirement enables door interactions through Config.InteractionMethod in config/config.lua.

Choose Puzzle, Skill check or Timed progress bar, then set any required job players. Picking a door doesn't grant keys or start the engine.

Hotwiring

In Hotwiring, enable Allow hotwiring and configure Vehicle methods:

  • Classes that use the reader selects ignition hacking. Sports, Super and Open Wheel are selected by default; other classes use wires.
  • Models that use the reader and Models that use wires override the class choice. Enter spawn codes separated by commas or new lines.

Both methods use hotwiringkit. With Require a kit and Use up kit enabled, one kit is consumed when an attempt begins, including failed or cancelled attempts.

Choose the challenge separately under Wires and Reader. Success permits one engine start without issuing a key. Both immobiliser types block hotwiring and hacking.

Install both tools using Inventory Items.

Vehicle rules

Under Vehicles:

  • Ignore for theft protects selected models or classes from lockpicking, hotwiring, NPC robbery and key searches. Normal key use remains available.
  • Ignore vehicles excludes selected vehicles from Vehicle Keys entirely.
  • Keyless entry controls automatic locking. Ignition includes Drive running vehicles without a key; another start still requires access.

Dispatch

Select Config.DispatchSystem in config/config.lua. NPC keys > Police dispatch controls robbery alert delays and recipients. Required job-player counts are separate from alert recipients.

Lockpicking and hotwiring alerts follow the vehicle's alarm settings. See Vehicle Security.

Stress

Configure NPC keys > NPC theft stress for robberies and key searches. Lockpicking has separate controls under Lockpicking > Lockpicking stress.

Set Config.StressProvider in config/config.lua to "auto", "jg-stress-addon", "qbx_core", "qb-core" or "none". An unavailable stress provider doesn't prevent the interaction.
